Memorial Day is a time to honor the men and women who have demonstrated great courage to serve our country. Building off of this, Audi decided it wanted to do more for the brave veterans who have the perfect technical skillset that can be applied while working at a dealership. This is how the automaker came up with the Veterans to Technicians program. Let's take a closer look at how this will create career pathways for so many skilled individuals.
The main initiative of the program is to help place Veterans in suitable positions within Audi service departments. As the brand continues to grow and expand, is it able to take on individuals who demonstrate strong automotive skills, as well as skills in the following areas: aviation, welding, electronics, maritime systems and hydraulic systems.
Reinhard Fischer, director of strategy for Audi of America, explains, "Our nation has invested significant sums to train Veterans in technical fields, leadership skills and uncompromising values. That means former members of the armed forces are ideal candidates for the opportunities Audi and its dealerships offer."1
Last year Audi broke its sales record by selling 139,310 new Audi vehicles in the U.S., and this number is expected to grow to about 200,000 units this year. As a result, the automaker predicts the demand for technicians will soar to about 112 percent by 2020. By partnering with CALIBRE, a management and technology company, Veterans can now be more easily connected with Audi dealerships like Jim Ellis Audi Marietta, and offered generous employer incentives and government benefits.
If you are interested in learning more about this program, we encourage all of you in the greater Marietta, GA area to stop by our showroom. We'd be happy to answer any questions you may have, or set you up with a test drive with any of the Audi models that catch your eye!
