Being in the automotive business, we focus on vehicles’ design, power, and specs, and sometimes we forget just how dangerous driving a car can be. A year ago, MotorTrend video host Jessi Lang was reminded of that reality in the worst way possible.
Lang, a car enthusiast and host of MotorTrend’s online series The J-Turn, has a fierce passion for driving and testing new vehicles, especially super cars. Last year she got the opportunity to travel to Germany and take a spin in a modified Audi R8.
In the video she praises the vehicle: “I was beyond enthused to get my hands on it…every inch of it is gorgeous.”
This excitement ended when she and another driver crashed on the Autobahn.
Jessi Lang, her passenger, and the driver of the other vehicle were seriously injured. Jessi broke her tibia and fibula, injured her patella, had internal bleeding, and dissected her corroded artery. She went through two surgeries and countless hours of physical therapy.
After her grueling recovery, she returned to work at MotorTrend, and her first order of business was to record her experience and share it with the world.
