If you missed all the Black Friday madness this year, don't worry--you didn't miss out on much, at least when it comes to deals on new cars. For all you car shoppers looking for the best possible deal, the "Black Friday" of car shopping has yet to come, and you can still benefit from some serious deals.
New data from TrueCar suggests Black Friday isn’t the best day to find a heavily discounted car--in fact, it's only the fifth-best day to find a good deal. According to the data, December 31st was the best day to buy a new car last year. Consumers can expect to save up to 8.8% on the last day of the year, as dealers make one last effort to move cars off their lot to boost sales numbers and make room for new models.
Following December 31st, December 2nd (last year's Cyber Monday) came in last year as the second-best day to car shop, with an average discount of 8.5%. Coming in third was the weekend following black Friday, and number four was the Friday before Christmas. Finally, Black Friday came it at number five with an average discount of 8.15%.
If this year's trends are anything like last year's, we suggest waiting until the weekend before Christmas before purchasing that special gift your loved one won’t soon forget – or even, better, wait until New Year's Eve and make it a new year to remember.
