The Future of Wagon Design Shown Through the Audi Prologue Avant

This is not your Momma's Wagon. We all know that the Avant title is used for Audi’s wagon vehicles. This year however in the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Audi presented a new design language for the future of Avants with the Prologue Avant Concept.

Prologue Avant Concept

At first glance, you’d think that this is the Prologue coupe concept which was revealed last year at the LA Motor Show. And indeed, it shares the same design in front. But when you turn around to the side and rear, you’d see the difference between the two versions. The Prologue Avant now has five doors and has a stretched roof all the way to the bonnet.

The interior is designed with minimalism in mind. Using three touch screens that are able to control all the features in the vehicle and shows all the driving information, Audi was able to eliminate the need for physical buttons.

The Prologue Avant uses a 3.0 liter, twin turbo diesel engine plug-in hybrid that is used also on the Q7 e-tron shown on the motor show. Producing 335 kW (455 hp) and 720 Nm of torque that is able to take the car from 0 to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds. When powered on pure electric power, the range is said to be 54 km (or 33 miles).
